Disclaimer: Sorry if this is in the wrong place, I can't remember where to put this. Feel free to move for me.

Alright, so I took a break for a while from MWO a couple months ago, however I ran into a serious probem after having to restore my user account on my computer.

I no longer can uninstall MWO, but I also cannot install it, and I have tried clearing it from the registry as well as any other solutions that I can think of. However, due to being unable to to either a fresh install or uninstall, I need someone to help me fix this issue.

You can use Jv16 from https://www.macecraft.com/

Take the free trial and try to use the forced unistaller to remove MWO.

MWO is eternal and has no beginning or ending.

Revo Uninstaller is free and is useful for uninstalling programs.

Well, I have IObit Uninstaller, and that wouldn't work so I'll give these a shot.

Try ccleaner.

On a side note we are all just guessing at your problem. You didn't say how it's not installing. Does it load? Does it download the game files?. Any error messages?

If in doubt, message technical support. If all else fails, they can probably show you the registry keys and files associated with MWO and where to remove them / edit them.

I think CCleaner just opens the respective programs' uninstaller.

It has a reg cleaner and Will remove the uninstaller from Windows if he deleted the other files.by.hand.

I'm not saying it's better than any of these other programs. I wondering if he is having a downloading issue or something else. Even with mech warrior is installed you can install.it again in a different folder.

Looks like no tools are going to help this. Here is the log file from the uninstall:

Spoiler

And no, it doesn't even successfully install the launcher for patching or anything like that. It'll go through the installer package (MWOInstaller) and then give me Launch and Close. I click Launch, nothing happens, and close does the obvious but I check where I install the game, there is never any files in the directory.

It's hard for me to read this on my phone but if the files are not showing up maybe it's a admin issue? Right click on the.installer select "run as admin"

If that works, I'll feel stupid. >.>

Except that even registy cleaners aren't working. I'll restart and try again.

No Dice. Can't find any other method of fixing this issue.

Side Note: I hate to say this, but this mess coupled with the various lore-nerfs I've been seeing, maybe coming back to MWO is not the best idea.

try http://mwomercs.com/...-this-may-help/
3) Delete files from temp folders:
** Path: C:\Users\*Your Windows Session’s ID*\AppData\Local\Package Cache
** Path: C:\Users\*Your Windows Session’s ID*\AppData\Local\TEMP\MechWarrior Online

Delete any folder with mech or piranha in it.
regedit.exe search for anything with mech warrior and piranaha delete it.

Update for Windows make sure you have all updates for install packages.

OK I had a similar problem once upon a time. So don't give up I may have a solution for you:

C:\ProgramData\PackageCache

If you go in there (need to view Hidden folders as ProgramData is hidden)

There will be a folder with a MechwarriorOnline.msi

And another with a MechWarriorOnlineInstaller.exe

DELETE both of these folders (don't empty the recycle bin just incase)

Then download and re-install the game. Then uninstall the game properly.

Then reinstall the game.

Sounds crazy but give it a shot... it worked for me!

Hope that helps you out.

Be careful with CCleaner. I have seen that thing's registry cleaner f**k the hell out of some PCs at work. Registry cleaners are well... generally kind of a snake oil unless you know what you're looking for. IN this case a simple search for Piranha, and Mechwarrior, will suffice if you're gonna touch the registry. And if you do, do yourself a favour and back it up first :|

Okay, let's see if the mechs are as nerfed as the forums claim. Problem solved.

What fixed it? It's nice to post how you did it for others who may have the issue

Thanks cSand, I'm not the OP but that did the job for me. Thanks for taking the time to post the fix.

The fact that these two files were still there was stopping the uninstaller from completing successfully (which is pretty stupid). Removing them allowed me to uninstall the game and kick off a fresh install.
